Show Settings is on the Bullet menu. It creates special effects for the Slide Show view of bullet charts. Show Settings is also where you set time limits for each chart in the presentation. Show Settings has the following options:
Display Determines the display effects. The two display effects are:
Build creates a superimposition effect for charts that have subcharts. However, you must be in a Slide Show view to see the effect. (You can also print your charts with the same effect by choosing the Expand Builds option on the Preview/Options dialog.) The following describes each build setting:
• Choosing None deselects the Build effect. MORE just displays the charts in the regular fashion.
• Choosing the second setting draws one subhead after another in full intensity
• Choosing the third setting displays all the subheads at once, but at half intensity. Each time you advance to the next chart, MORE displays the next subhead in full intensity.
• Choosing the bottom setting displays all the subheads at once, but at half intensity. Each time you advance to the next chart, MORE displays the next subhead in full intensity, but switches the previous subhead back to half intensity.
Effect Makes charts that dissolve and wipe over each other from various directions, as pictured on the pop-up menu. None removes these effects, displaying charts in the regular way.
Timing Determines the timing of the presentation. The options are:
Repeat Begins the presentation from the beginning when it reaches the last slide. This selection is for self-running presentations.
Pause until click Advances to the next slide when you click the mouse during your presentation or when you use the keyboard.
Pause for time limit Automatically advances to the next chart, according to the time limits that you set. When this setting and the Repeat setting are selected, your presentation is totally automatic.
Time Limit Sets the time limit for a specific chart.
Total Time Displays the total amount of time for the entire presentation.
First Applies the settings to the first slide in the presentation.
Prev Applies the settings to the previous slide in the presentation.
Last Applies the settings to the last slide in the presentation.
Next Applies the settings to the next slide in the presentation.
You can also apply builds, effects, and timing as rules by using either the scope tools on the palette or through the Rules window.
